LOWELL — Timberlane's wrestling team stood in third place Thursday after the first day of the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament.

Surprising Springfield Central stands in first with 105 points followed by Concord (95), Timberlane (93.5) and Mount Anthony (90). Windham is in seventh and Pinkerton is eighth. The Astros, however, have the most quarterfinalists of any team with six.

In the quarterfinals for the Owls are Nick Roeger (113), Connor McGionagle (132), Antonio Pallaria (145) and Chris Lund (220). McGonagle is a defending three-time champ.

Among Pinkerton's six quarterfinalists are defending 182-pound champ Sterling McLaughlin and highly-regarded 220-pounder Robbie Fahey.

For Central Catholic, all three Glynn brothers (Jimmy, Mike and Tyler) advanced to the quarterfinals as well as surprising Jose Binet (195). Salem has Matt Adams (120) and Tristen Cabinta (160), both of whom remain unbeaten on the year.

Windham, which is tied for seventh, boasts Connor Sills and Riley Millette as quarterfinalists while Jake Nicolosi remains alive at 145 for Haverhill.

The quarterfinals are scheduled to start late Friday afternoon, probably at about 5 p.m.
