Loeffler stars, Pinkerton repeats as New Hampshire gymnastics champ

DURHAM, N.H. - Ashlee Loeffler' nerves were working overtime as Saturday afternoon wore on.

Maddie Quill won both the bars and beam events and was the all-around winner as Andover's gymnastics team tuned up for the MVC Meet Thursday with a 136.1-116.85 romp over Lowell. On Senior Night, Sarah Williams was first in the floor and runner-up in the vault.

Williams delivers


With Andover trailing Central Catholic by the slimmest of margins, the Warriors needed a 9.0 score in the final event, the floor exercise, and captain Sarah Williams delivered with a winning score of 9.15. That gave Andover a narrow 136.35-136.25 win in a battle of unbeatens. Andover's Maddie Quill, who was first in the bars, was the all-around winner with a 35.5.

Ramos reaches new heights

Sophomore co-captain Adiamis Ramos put together her best performance of the year for Methuen gymnastics, placing first in three of four events and first in the all-around (33.85) to lead the Rangers to a tri-meet sweep of Lowell and North Andover. Methuen's score of 129.95 was its best of the year.

Salem aces Senior Night

The Salem gymnastics team scored a season-best 125.3 on senior night to finish behind only Bedford during a meet Friday night. Kasey Hartmann took first in the floor (9.4) and third in the all-around (32.85), while Sydney Bartlett placed first on the beam (9.1) and third on the floor (9.15). Freshman Vanesa Aiello had a third-place finish on the vault with an 8.15.

Isabella back strong

Out for a couple weeks, eighth-grader Isabella Lundgren returned for Haverhill gymnastics and placed on the beam with a 7.9 in a win over Lowell. Lone Hillie senior Sarah Cowley had a fantastic senior night, putting together her best performance of the year on the beam (8.3) and the floor (8.25) while placing first in the all-around (31.35).

Astros roll again


Pinkerton's gymnastics team won a six-team meet to improve to 21-0 on the year, scoring 134.25 points, six more than runner-up Londonderry. Freshman Zoe Demers won both the bars and beam and Sophia Viger was first in the vault.

Haverhill gymnastics breaks record

The Haverhill girls gymnastics team scored a 132.75 in a win over Methuen, which is believed to be a new meet record for the three-year program. Alex Auguste and Jenna Dutton shined on the bars and the beam, and Lilly Mullaney did well performing a new bar routine. The Hillies (4-4) also doubled their win total from a year ago with the win.

D'Arcy shines for Salem

Emily D'Arcy placed third in the all-around, which included a third-place finish on the beam (8.4), to help Salem gymnastics take second at a five-team meet. Sydney Bartlett placed second on the beam (8.9) for the Blue Devils and Kasey Hartmann, Emma Liptrap, Emma Sheedy, Vanesa Aiello and Kylee Tommasi all produced scores that contributed.

Pinkerton swept a five-team meet over the weekend, rolling up 35.8 points, 3.6 points more than runner-up Hollis-Brookline. Tori Sipes of Windham and Derryfield won the all-around followed by the Astros' Sophia Viger and Ashlee Loeffler.

Sophia Viger won the vault (9.05) and floor exercise (9.1) and was second in the all-around to lead Pinkerton to a convincing victory in a four-team meet. The Astros scored a 134.8. Salem was second with a 113.85.

Missing its two competitors due to injury, Haverhill gymnastics toughed out a season-opening 124.3-124.15 victory over Chelmsford. Lilly Mullaney scored the Hillies' lone first, winning the vault, while Allie Milne was second int he beam and floor exercise.
