Top-seeded Andover was upset by No. 8 Acton-Boxboro, 4-1, in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. The Warriors conclude the season at 14-2.

Central Catholic girls tennis fell to Westford, 5-0, in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. The Raiders finish the season 12-3 overall.

Depsite being pushed to the limit by Haverhill, Andover was able to come away with a 3-2 victory in yesterday's girls tennis Division 1 North first round. Maggie Carter (third singles) and the first doubles team of Rachel Trotta and Kirsten Arvidson both registered perfect 6-0, 6-0 victories. Arvidson filled in admirably for Satin Zarkar, who is likely lost for the postseason with rotator cuff damage. Haverhill's Meghan Cokely and Lindsey Boland gritted out a pair of three-game victories out of first and second singles respectively to help keep the Hillies alive.

Danica Blakslee, Caitlin Peters and Cassie Hailson were all double-winners as Salem topped Exeter, 6-3, in the Class L quarterfinals.

Pinkerton's Laurel Salladay won No. 1 singles, and teamed with Summer Burns to take No. 1 doubles, but the No. 5 Astros fell to No. 4 Bishop Guertin 7-2 in the first round of the Class L tournament. 

Pinkerton dropped its first place showdown match with Manchester Central, but Maggie Preece put the finishing touches on a perfect season (14-0) at No. 6 singles - winning by an 8-2 margin.  Gasey Gillman had the other win for the 12-2 Astros.

It was Meghan O'Donnell's time. In her first varsity match she and Julia Anderson won their doubles match in straight sets as Methuen crusied by Lawrence 4-1. The tandem of Angela Castillo and Sharlene Del Rosario were the lone Lawrence winners

In her last home match senior Lindsey Boland won 6-0 and 6-1 to lead Haverhill to a convincing 5-0 win over Notre Dame of Tyngsboro. The Hillies took all but seven games and with the win qualify for the state tournament.

The Clippers play at Ipswich this afternoon.

The Vikings (8-7) clinched a post-season berth with an exciting win over the Sachems (7-9) yesterday, 3-2. Triton's Molly Fargeorge (7-6, 6-1) and Allie Murray (6-1, 7-6) won in their singles matches, and Emily and Teresa Kaminski won their doubles match (6-2, 7-5). For Pentucket, first singles Karena Webber (6-3, 6-1) was victorious, and Amy Dickinson and Erica McKee (6-4, 6-2) won their doubles match.

Katie Veasey took first singles 8-4 and teamed with Rachel Bushey to win in first doubles 9-8 (7-4) as Timberlane defeated Manchester Memorial, 5-4.

The Sachems (7-8) swept the singles matches against Ipswich yesterday, as Karena Webber (3-6, 6-1, 6-1), Rachael Downey (7-6, 7-6), and Sarah Dillon (6-3, 6-2) each had solid matches. The Sachems can clinch a tourney spot with a win against Triton this afternoon.

Karena Webber won at first singles (6-3, 6-2), Rachael Downey won at second singles (6-1, 6-1), and Sarah Dillon won at third singles (6-0, 6-0). Amy Babeu and Katherine Torrisi won at first doubles (6-0, 6-1), and Amy Dickinson and Erica McKee won second doubles (6-2, 6-0).

Two close victories in doubles lifted Bishop Guertin to a 5-4 victory and knocked Pinkerton from the ranks of the undefeated. Laurel Salladay continued her fine season with an 8-1 win at first singles, joining with Summer Burns to also triumph at first doubles, 8-0 for the Astros (11-1).

Kara LeFort — the only non-senior in the North Reading lineup, battled for a three-set victory as part of a 4-1 non-league victory over Malden. The sophomore rebounded from an opening set loss at second singles to tie things up, 6-0, only to face a tiebreaker in the deciding set. LeFort dominated the tiebreaker, 7-2, to take the triumph.
