Hornets pull away

The Pentucket and Manchester Essex girls lacrosse team were going back and forth late into Thursday's Division 2 North quarterfinal, but over the final 10 minutes the Hornets pulled away, rallying to beat Pentucket 12-8. Clara Dore scored five goals in the loss, Jacqui Cloutier had two goals and four assists, and Caroline Cloutier scored the remaining goal as the Sachems finished their season 11-6. Manchester Essex now advances to face rival Ipswich in the Division 2 North semifinals.

Freshman not fazed

Andover freshman Lily Shannon scored a team-high three goals, but the eighth-seeded Warriors fell to top-seeded Chelmsford 13-8 in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. Senior stalwarts Jordan Torres and Emma Farnham eached scored twice for the Warriors (14-8).

Sensational sophomore

Sophomore Ciera Licare scored five goals to lead No. 5 Central Catholic lacrosse to a 16-13 win over No. 12 Westford in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament. Megan Lane added four goals and Meghan Manzo potted three for the Raiders, who will either be at Woburn or host Beverly on Thursday.

Warriors on defense

 

Andover played tough defense in the first half, rolling to a 6-2 lead, and went on for a 13-8 win over Winchester in the first round of the Division 1 North girls lacrosse tournament. Emma Farnum led the attack for the Warriors (14-7) with four goals while Brooke Lenes and Jordan Torres scored three apiece.

Pinkerton's girls lacrosse team, seeded No. 1, scored the first goal of the game but No. 10-seed Bishop Guertin scored the next seven on its way to a 13-4 shocker in the Division 1 semifinals. Kylie Davis and Lauren Lisauskas both scored twice for the Astros (17-2).

Astros dominate

Pinkerton girl's lacrosse had little issue in its Division 1 quarterfinal matchup, crushing Londonderry 16-5. Kiley Davis had four goals for the top-seeded Astros (17-1), and Lauren Lisauskas had three goals and five assists. Pinkerton will play No. 4 Bishop Guertin in the semifinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. from Bill Ball Stadium. The Astros won their regular season matchup 9-8.

The Georgetown girls lacrosse team is headed to the state tournament in first-year coach Morgan DeShaw's first try. The Royals punched their ticketed on Monday, beating Haverhill 12-9. Abbie Donahue scored four goals with two assists and Lindsey Feeks and Lilly Egenberg each had hat tricks in the win.
