Seniors propel Reggies

The Greater Lawrence co-ed swim team edged out Lynn Tech by the narrowist of margins, winning 94-92 in a meet that came down to the final event. Lauren D'Entremont and Tim Burgess each won two events and helped win two relays, but the decisive points came from seniors Horacio Santos, Sabrina Sahyouni, Victor Martinez, Raven Fuentes, Serena Torres and Samantha Cobbett, who picked up key finishes up and down the lineup to clinch the win in their final home meet.

Terrific Taylor

Taylor Hogan broke her own school record in the 500 freestyle. The record was 5:30.94 and Hogan went 5:28.28 yesterday as the Timberlane girls dominated a meet with Salem, Nashua South, Wilton and Souhegan.

Greater Lawrence finishes fifth

Juan Garcia, Jose Leon, Jonathan Santiago and Freudi Gonzalez came in second and posted a season-best time in the 200 medley relay (2:06.71) to help the Greater Lawrence boys swim team finish fifth at the CAC meet.

Perfect Knights

North Andover wrapped up a 6-0 season with a 97-73 win over Masconomet. Kieran Dunbar was a triple winner (100 and 200 freestyle, 400 free relay). He and Liam Walsh (500 free) both earned sectional cuts.

 The Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team beat Springfield Tech 45-17. Methuen's Courtney Murach led the way with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Xomarie Quinones had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals and Vanessa Feretto had 6 pts and 21 rebounds.

North Andover wins CAL meet

Danielle Voke, John Boyle, Alice Rodgers and Kieran Dunbar took second place in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:59.38 to help North Andover win the CAL meet at Salem State. Boyle finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.83) and Dunbar took second in the 100 freestyle (53.95).

The Z-man

Dominic Ziolek won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.68), the 200 IM (2:14.22) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay as Londonderry topped Pinkerton (112-58) and Merrimack (124-37). The Astros added a victory over the Tomahawks (120-38), led bu a victory in the 100 butterfly by Ben Dyson.

Sanborn standout

 

In a 12-team meet at UNH Sunday, Sanborn's Ginny Lavallee was first in the 300 dash (44.70) and first in the 55 hurdles (8.50) as well as taking third in the long jump and running on the winning 4x160-meter relay team. Also, Lexie Basiliere was fifth in the 1,500.

Fantastic freshmen

Freshmen Danielle Voke and Sophia Pasewark both won individual events to help North Andover swimming post a 105-59 victory over Manchester Essex. Voke won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.78. Pasewark won the 500 freestyle in 5:48.06.

Shea, Mayo strong for Salem

Caitlyn Shea led Salem with two impressive victories in a meet against Timberlane, Dover and St. Thomas Aquinas. Shea won out in the 100 butterfly (1:03.04) and 200 IM (2:20.28). Teammate Jackie Mayo also was triumphant in the 200 freestyle (2:05.24) and placed second in the 100 backstroke.

New Hampshire Meet of Champions

Salem's Caitlyn Shea finished the 200 IM in a time of 2:19.95 to place fourth at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions.  She followed that performance with a 5:24.41 in the 500 freestyle, placing sixth.
