Pentucket's Jason Steele claimed second overall, shooting an even-par round of 35 at Bradford Country Club, leading the Sachems to second overall in a four-team meet with the Newburyport (first), Triton and Amesbury. Pentucket moved to 9-6, claiming a pair of victories to lock up a spot in the state tournament. Steele scored 36 points in the Cape Ann quote scoring system, while teammate Vito Martello was fifth at 32.

Craig Farley and Ernie Lupi each won their matches for Haverhill, carding 3-over par rounds of 38 on the home course at Haverhill Country Club, but the Hillies fell in a 12-8 match with Chelmsford.

Central Catholic locked up the MVC golf title with its 16-4 victory over Chelmsford. Joe Leavitt, the "nucleus" of the Raiders' title run according to head coach Vin Pastore, won his last two holes to win his match at No. 1. Leavitt, a sophomore, has the best record of all No. 1's in league (10-3-1).

St. John's Prep edged BC High, 241-245 to defend its Catholic Conference title. Nick Pandelena of Atkinson shot a 1-over par 37 and Haverhill's Nick Maccario was one stroke behind for the unbeaten Eagles (15-0, 8-0 in the league). Sophomore Nick McLaughlin of Newcastle, N.H., the state Junior champion, was medalist for the Prep with a 1-under 35.

Janik Koenigs led the pack with a 36 as Andover (10-3) easily defeated Methuen, 18-2. David Gilbert and Adam Rosenzweig followed close behind with 37s.

Despite Jason Steele suffering his first loss of the season, Pentucket's golf squad held on for a 128-126 victory over North Reading.

North Andover completely controlled its home course, trashing Wilmington, 174-124. Dan Daley ran away from the field with 35 points for the Scarlet Knights (9-5), followed closely by teammate Nick Depace with 33 points.

Andover High School wins its match over Chelmsford 15-5, lead by medalist Adam Rosenzweig with a one-under 35 with birdies on three of the last four holes. Janik Koenig had a even par 36, Nicole Boudreau and Mike Pulido had two-over 38s and Mike Levenson rounded the scoring out with a three-over 39.

Joe Leavitt fired a 1-under 35 as Central Catholic topped archrival Andover for the second time this season, 15-5.

Behind another team-leading victory from Jason Steele, Pentucket rolled to a 146-127 triumph over host Rockport. Steele is a perfect 11-0 for the Sachems (6-5), piling up 366 total points this season.

Methuen golf earned its first victory, beating Dracut after starting this fall off with 11 straight losses. "It's been real frustrating because we've been really close all year," said Methuen coach Jeff Osgood who added that his team had a tough road schedule to start the season but that he's more optimistic about some upcoming tournaments at home.   Jake Hulme and and John Newell each shot two-over-par 38s at the Merrimack Valley Golf Club.

In what was termed "as good a round as I've seen in the 13 years I've been here," according to Central Catholic head coach Vin Pastore, junior Kevin Fay tore up Hickory Hill CC for a 4-under par 32, leading the Raiders to a 16-4 victory over host Dracut.

St. John's Prep was lead to a 239 to 251 victory over Catholic Memorial, by Haverhill's Nick Maccario and Atkinson's Nick Pandelena who both shot 39's.

Behind Donnie Hunt's 2-under par 33, Andover shut out Haverhill, 20-0. Mike Levanson also won with a 36 while David Gilbert and Janik Koenigs shot matching 37s for the Golden Warriors.

Jason Steele blew away the field as his 2-under par performance led to 40 points and a 165-112 victory by Pentucket over North Andover. John Boyle came the closest to Steele as the Scarlet Knights' top scorer with 31 points. Sachem Ryan Swanson was next in line with 30 points.
