Knights make statement

North Andover (now 5-0) cruised in the battle of unbeatens, topping Andover, 58-42, to capture the MVC 1 girls indoor track title. The Knights dominated the middle distance/distances behind Ainsley Dion, Kelcey Dion, Aisling Callahan and Rose Gordon. Haley Carver and Jodi Parrott shined for AHS.

Brenna Corcoran shined for Haverhill in a loss to Lowell. She won the 600 in 1:45.3 and teamed with Jen Sahagian, Meggie Dellea and Linda Laffey to win the 4x400 in 4:24.5

Rubio sparks win

 

In a battle of two of the top Cape Ann League powers, Pentucket edged North Reading 43-42 with Emily Rubio leading the way. She had a PR clear of 5-4 to win the high jump and was also second in the 600. Reese Gallant had a personal-best 6.9 to win the 55 meters.

Jodi Parrott had a massive 18-9 in the long jump and won the hurdles in 8.2 to lead Andover to a 67-33 win against Lowell. Aimee Lu (600, 1:46.5) and Kayla DiBenedetto (1,000, 3:09.6) helped AHS dominate the middle distances.

Dion, Callahan shine

Kelcey Dion won the 600 and helped North Andover to a win in the 4x400 as the Knights tripped Central, 70-30, to improve to 3-0. Aisling Callahan had a big 5:22.52 win in the mile and Ava Nassar set a new personal best of 756 in the dash. Central's Katie Ciesieliski won the 300 and teamed with Daniela DiNitto, Katharine Duren and Grace Lydon to set a Raider record in the 4x200.

The timing of New Englands is less than perfect for New Hampshire track athletes.

Saturday’s 33rd annual meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston was 20 days after the N.H. state meets. Thus many of the Granite State elite don’t even bother competing.
