Big (Blue) comeback

Sam Auffant tagged a solo homer in the fifth to tie it and Georgetown's Geoff Lynch plated two when a Phillips Exeter infielder threw the ball away as Phillips Andover rolled to a big 6-3 victory. Auffant, Zach Burdeau (Andover) and Anthony Morlani all collected two hits for Andover, which finishes the regular season at 14-6.

Cline reaches milestone in rout of Brooks

Phillips Academy’s Andy Cline has been a part of many landmark events in his time as the head coach of the varsity baseball team, and yesterday he reached another.

With an 11-0 win over Brooks, Cline registered the 300th victory of his career. As usual, he was modest about the accomplishment.

Wild win for Phillips

The Big Blue were able to push three runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning to come back and win, 7-6, over Belmont Hill. With one out and the bases loaded, Jack Doyle missed hitting a game-winning grand slam by just a few feet, pulling the ball foul. He would go on to strike out, but a bad pickoff attempt by the catcher plated a pair of runs and tied the game, leaving Tom Palleschi as the winning run at second base. Sam Auffant proceeded to knock a double to drive in Palleschi for the game-winning RBI as Phillips improved to 3-0.

Making the best

Once Chris Cameron and Jack Doyle were called into the game, they made their names heard. Each notched two hits and scored twice in a nine-run sixth inning as Phillips pounded Tabor Academy 11-0. Leadoff hitter Mike DiFronzo of North Reading had two doubles.

Doyle dominates in first start

Making his first ever varsity start, Jack Doyle limited Bridgeton Academy to just six hits and one earned run over five innings as Phillips won, 5-2. Doyle struck out three and walked none.
