Alex Hammel, daughter of Merrimack men's head coach Bert Hammel, scored 16 points and pullled down nine rebounds but Essex-Aggie came out on the short end of a 73-40 decision to Whittier. The 5-7 senior from Methuen also recorded three steals.
Whittier was led by Christina Medley, who scored 16 points. Kendra Brasil had seven points and six steals and Danielle Martin added eight points and seven rebounds.
