Pinkerton's golf team, which finished third in the Class L tournament last year despite a 28-2 record, is apparently determined to make amends this year.
The Astros shot an impressive 149 in the season opener at Windham Country Club yesterday, defeating defending Class L champ Salem by 10 strokes as well as Londonderry (177) and Merrimack (180).
Dan Kish and Tyler Angle tied for medalist for the Astros with a 36 while Mark Kissel shot a 38 and Kellen Busby settled for a 39. Jeff Cohen and Ryan Greenleaf fired 38s to lead alem.
"They looked outstanding," said Salem coach Ben Adams. "They're going to have a great season."
James Tovey and Adam Dolan, both of Windham, recently had holes-in-one on the third hole at the Windham Country Club.
Dolan, playing from the 130-yard white tees, made his yesterday while playing with his father. Tovey made his ace on the 173-yard, par-3 hole a few weeks back. He was partnered with Jason Romano of Methuen.
Team leaders: Pinkerton — Dan Kish, Tyler Angle 36; Mark Kissel 38; Kellen Busby 39; Salem — Jeff Cohen 38, Ryan Greenleaf 38, Kyle Gaudette 41; Londonderry — Taylor Simpson 41, Matt Tobin 43, Chris Ugolini 46
