The Salem girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 69-64 overtime loss to Concord in the first round of the Division 1 tournament. The Blue Devils were led by 26 points from Jordyn Franzen and 16 from Olivia Murray.

Parker, Owls prevail again

 

LONDONDERRY — Konrad Parker did it again Saturday at the New Hampshire Division 1 state meet.

And so did, once again, the Timberlane wrestling team.

Last year as a freshman, Parker stunned the No. 1 seed and captured the 106-pound title to help the Owls rally to capture their fourth straight state crown. On Saturday, he pinned the No. 1 seed, Nashua South's Colby Spencer, in the finals for yet another title.

Hazelton beats the buzzer!

Trailing by a point with five seconds left, Stella Hazelton caught a pass just beyond the arc and let it fly. As the crowd held its breath, Hazleton watched as the ball swished through the nylon as the final buzzer sounded to give Salem a dramatic 56-54 win over Manchester Central. Jordyn Franzen led the Blue Devils (15-5, 11-5 NH) with 21 points, and Hazleton added 9. The win was also No. 199 overall for coach Ricky Oliver between his days coaching at Nashua North and Salem.

Londonderry's White takes two thirds

It was a good day for Londonderry's Brandon White at Saturday's Division 1 state swimming meet.

The junior took thirds in both the 50 freestyle (22.86) and 100 freestyle (50.02) to help the Lancers take eighth as a team with 87 points, and he also swam a leg on both the fifth-place 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
