After a rough first inning where host Spaulding scored five times, pitcher Nora Galvin settled down and gave Salem a shot at victory, falling just shy in a 5-2 contest.

Galvin finished with 10 strikeouts in an effort that coach Harold Sachs said "would really pay dividends down the road. I thought she grew up as a pitcher and looked really good."

After scoring twice in the third inning with help from an Erica DePinto RBI hit, the Blue Devils loaded the sacks in the top of the seventh only to have Spaulding sophomore shortstop Maria Blougouras turn in a huge play on a hard shot up the middle to end the contest.
