Wise finish for Hillies

Sophomore Steven Wise won the first tournament of his career to propel Haverhill to thiird place in the 25-team Capital Classic in Concord. Wise won the 132-pound title, edging Windham's Nick Sawyer 2-1 in the finals, boosting his season record to 23-8.

The Hillies also got a second atv 138 from Jake Nicolosi, who defeated New England finalist Josh Lee of Burlington in the semifinals, and Sam Prescott at 152. Nick Tejada, who finished fifth at 145, picked up the 100th win of his career during the tourney.

The Hillies edged Central Catholic by just 1 1/2 points. The Raiders were paced by 106-pound champ Mike Glynn while brother Tyler Glynn was runner-up at 126 and Joey Sanchez was third at 145. Matt Shaw was third at 152.

Pinkerton, which placed fifth, was paced by rising star Sterling McLaughlin, who won the 182-pound title to raise his record to 27-2.

In addition to Sawye, who won the 100th match of his career in the tourney, 10th-place Windham had thirds from Conner Sills (106), Riley Millette (120) and Vinny Marino (126). Marino defeated Goffstown's Jac St. Jean, the defending Meet of Champions winner.
