Owls roll into showdown

 

Timberlane rolled to three wins in a home quad-meet to improve to 19-0. The Owls will put their 158-meet winning streak in New Hampshire on the line Wednesday at home against unbeaten Concord. Taylor Donovan had a big major decision at 126 against Windham's Riley Millette, who bumped up a weight class. Nick Roeger (106), Connor McGonagle (132) and Dylan Hughes (160) all had three pins.

Wise finish for Hillies

 

Sophomore Steven Wise won the first tournament of his career to propel Haverhill to thiird place in the 25-team Capital Classic in Concord. Wise won the 132-pound title, edging Windham's Nick Sawyer 2-1 in the finals, boosting his season record to 23-8.

Marino wins 100th

 

 Windham senior Vinny Marino was 4-0 at 126 and 132 pounds to give him 100 wins for his career but it was otherwise a tough day for the Jaguars, who fell to Keene, Hampten Charter, Shawsheen and North Attleboro. Sophomore Hunter Tornquist and junior Riley Millette were both 3-1.

Sills, Marino stand out

 

Windham settled for a split in a tough quad-meet at Quabbin, blasting Northbridge and beating the host team but falling to both Westford and BC High. Sophomore Conner Sills had three pins and was 4-0 at 106 and Vinnie Marino was 4-0 at 126 as the Jaguars finished the day with a 9-5 record.

Jags lose on 8th tie-breaker

Windham stormed to a 25-0 lead, but Merrimack rebounded in a bigtime way. At the end it was 37-37. Tie-breaker after tie-breaker decided nothing. The 8th tie-breaker (most first points in a match) went to Merrimack for the crazy 38-37 win.
