ANDOVER — After a stout performance last week the Phillips defence was just as impressive on Saturday, holding Loomis Chaffe scoreless in the first half en route to a 27-14 win.
Adam Cohen was the leader for Phillips (2-0) defensively with eight tackles and a sack. North Reading's Bobby O'Donnell chipped in with seven tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack.
The Phillips defensive unit forced four turnovers.
The final score makes the game seem closer than it was.
Phillips post-grad quarterback Zach Geddes rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw a third to Brendan Smith — all in the first half.
Will Litton rushed for 125 yards on 15 carries and a 12-yard TD run in the second quarter to help Phillips take a comanding 27-0 lead at halftime. Loomis scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter against many of Phillips' backups.
According to Phillips coach Leon Modeste, his running backs had plenty of space running behind Andover's Max Beati.
