Playing on a field saturated by monsoon-like conditions, the Phillips football team was shut out by Deerfield Academy in a 7-0 slog. Deerfield scored the lone touchdown of the game in the second quarter, and with the loss Phillips falls to 4-2 on the season.

Big Blue ready for showdown

SALISBURY, Conn. — Phillips Academy is rolling into its showdown against fellow unbeaten Choate.

The Big Blue improved to 3-0, tripping Salisbury, 19-7.

Zach Geddes ran for a score and connected with Junior Almeida for an 85-yard TD connection. The post-grad signal-caller had 75 yards on the ground and threw for 166 yards.

Cohen, Phillips smother Loomis

ANDOVER — After a stout performance last week the Phillips defence was just as impressive on Saturday, holding Loomis Chaffe scoreless in the first half en route to a 27-14 win.

Adam Cohen was the leader for Phillips (2-0) defensively with eight tackles and a sack. North Reading's Bobby O'Donnell chipped in with seven tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack.

Phillips defense puts hurt on

LAKEVILLE, Conn.  — The Phillips defense had the Hotchkiss quarterback scrambling for his life in a 47-13 season-opening win over Hotchkiss.

The Big Blue had a whopping nine sacks and 300-plus pound lineman Ricardo Hernandez had a 2-yard fumble recovery for a score. Adam Cohen and Kevin Milowski each had three sacks.
