Rivera, Rangers roll in 3rd-place game

NORTH ANDOVER — Methuen defeated Lawrence 62-46 in the third-place game of the Commonwealth Motors Christmas Classic. Trailing by one at the half, the Rangers (3-4) outscored the Lancers (2-4) by a 41-26 margin in the second half.

The third-place finish was the best by the Rangers in the one-division tourney (it was two divisions in 2013 and 2014) since the 2000 club lost in the finals.

Dante Rivera had 12 of his 14 points after the break and David Dizazzo scored 9 of his 10 points. Keegan Lannon also hit double figures with 13 points. Kevin Vanderhorst had a game-high 18 for the Lancers.
