P.J. Ross slammed a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth after Caitlin Catalanotto came in to pitch in the top of the inning to end a Hollis-Brookline threat as Sanborn edged Hollis-Brookline 2-1 in the Division 2 quarterfinals Saturday.
With Sanborn leading 1-0 with one out and the bases loaded, Catalanotto relieved Madi McLellan, struck out the next batter and then induced a soft liner to end the inning. Ross followed in the bottom of the frame with a blast over the fence in left-center.
The Indians scored their first run in the fourth when Ellery Rasmussen drove in Erin Thompson.
The Indians advance to the semifinals Tuesday at 7 p.m. against top-seed Goffstown (16-3), the first time the Indians have been in the Final Four since 2010.
"The kids showed a lot of composure and played great today," said Sanborn coach Dan Carbone.
