Whittier season ends

In the quarterfinals of the Volleyball North Divison 3, Whittier fell to Notre Dame in straight sets. Holly Pearson led the Wildcats with 17 digs and Cassey Glode had 13. "You never want to end the season losing," said coach Deb Littlefield. "But, the girls have a lot to be proud of this season."

Nessa Ferretto scored 10 aces in a row in the second set during Whittier's 3-0 win over Chelsea. The win secures the CAC Division 1 Championship for Whittier.

Trailing 2-0 in games and missing injured starter Danielle Martin, Whittier won the last three games to defeat Worcester Tech and end the regular season on a high note with an 18-2 record. Jessica Goulet led the way with 10 kills while Destiny Jordan had 16 service points and 11 digs.

Whittier Tech avenged one of its two losses with a convincing sweep of St. Mary's to improve its record to 16-2. Jessica Goulet led the play at the net with 11 kills while Monica Lewis had a stunning 23 service points, including the first eight in the first and third games, and five aces.
