LOWELL – Forget the eight losses on their slate, Plymouth North is a Division 2 baseball monster.

The defending state champions, once floundering in early May at 7-6, made North Andover victim No. 11 in the last 13, dousing the Knights, 8-0, in the Eastern Mass. Championship game before about 800 fans here at Alumni Field.

Brunette, Knights make history

LOWELL - For a team forging ahead into history, North Andover High looked quite at home here on the finely-manicured diamond at LeLacheur Park.

Sophomore Alec Jillson slapped a two-run single in the first and Aaron Brunette - with a save from Mike Weisman - made it work swimmingly as the Knights knocked off Reading, 2-0, before about 500 fans for the Division 2 North championship.

Knights freshman Walsh walks off with win for second straight game

LOWELL — Brandon Walsh jogged into second base, fist in the air, waiting for his frenzied teammates to pile on him.

It was the second such mugging he has received in three days.

Brunette's big game

Aaron Brunette went 2 for 3 with a three-run shot and a run scored as North Andover edged Wilmington, 6-1. Sophomore Mike Weisman went the distance, racking up a career-high 12 strikeouts while allowing just one earned run and four hits.

Amazing comeback for the Knights

North Andover pulled out an amazing comeback win over Triton, 9-8, in eight innings.

The Knights (12-3) were down to their last breath when Connor Walsh delievered a two-out single, in the seventh. After a pickoff attempt went into right field, sending Walsh to third, Michael Weisman beat out an infield single to tie the score.

Connor Walsh's sacrifice fly in the ninth inning scored Ryan Sifferlen with the game-winning run in North Andover's 1-0, extra inning win. Sifferlen started the winning rally with a walk, then stole second before advancing to third on a passed ball. Alce Jillson had the lone Knight's hit.
