Melendez, Reggies blank Arlington Catholic

WEST ANDOVER — Greater Lawrence Tech's defense stymied Arlington Catholic throughout in a 13-0 non-playoff game win Friday at Louis E. Gleason Field. Isiah Suero and Manny Vasquez scored on short runs and the defense did the rest for the Reggies (now 3-7). Tackles Juan Alvarado and Dom Colon both had five tackles and a sack. Julian Melendez contributed two sacks. Outside linebacker Joe Carroll's pretty over-the-shoulder interception sealed the shutout. The Reggies' last shutout was 21 games ago ... 43-0 over Nashoba Tech on Oct. 18, 2019. Arlington Catholic dropped to 2-8.

Vasquez TD pass as time expires gives Greater Lawrence win over Saugus

As time expired in the game, Greater Lawrence's Manny Vasquez hit Justin Ortega for a 15-yard touchdown pass. The Reggies then went for the two-point conversion to decide the game, and Augustine Raina plowed in to give Greater Lawrence a 15-14 win over Saugus.

Greater Lowell shuts out Reggies

TYNGSBORO — Greater Lowell rushed for a score in all four quarters en route to a 30-0 win Friday night over Greater Lawrence Tech. Reggie offensive leaders were Javious Calderon (5 carries, 27 yards), Manny Vasquez (32 passing yards) and Casey Neilon (2 catches, 13 yards).

Vasquez: 412 yards passing

 

WAKEFIELD — Greater Lawrence quarterback Manny Vasquez had a career day Saturday but it wasn't enough to prevent a 40-20 loss to Northeast.

Vasquez completed 25 of 37 passes for a whopping 412 yards whicj, accoring to statistics man Dan Thompson is a likely school record.He threw for two TDs, to Andy Esquivel and Casey Mansaur, both in the second half.

Reggies rally for 1st win

 

WEST ANDOVER — Trailing 20-7 at halftime, things looked blead for Greater Lawrence Friday night.

But the Reggies dug deep in the second half, on both sides of the ball, to overcome Essex Tech 27-20 for its first victory of the seasion.

8th grader sinks Greater Lawrence

WEST ANDOVER — Augustin Reina scored twice and Javious Calderon (116 yards, TD) and Isiah Suero (112 yards) each surpassed 100 rushing yards but Greater Lawrence fell to Lowell Catholic, 33-20. Talented 8th grader Kaden Silton of Westford stole the show with four TD passes, three to Nick Sawyer, to power 4-1 Lowell Catholic on Friday night.  Suero, who is a sophomore, was making his first start at quarterback for the 0-5 Reggies. Defensively, Dom Colon had seven tackles and Victor Melenciano had a sack.

Calderon shines but Reggies fall to Shawsheen

BILLERICA — Shawsheen Tech (2-1) scored all 13 points in the third quarter and blanked Greater Lawrence, 13-0. A highlight for the Reggies (0-4) was the play of Jarvis Calderon, who carried 16 times for 116 yards. Andrew Santos led a strong defensive effort with 13 tackles while Dominic Colon (8 tackles, sack) and Victor Melenciano (7 tackles, sack) also played well. The Reggies host Lowell Catholic (3-1) Friday at 6 p.m.

Wakefield overpowers Greater Lawrence

WEST ANDOVER — In a non-league matchup, Wakefield rolled to a 49-0 win over Greater Lawrence in the season opener at Gleason Field. Linebackers Alvin Nunez (9 tackles) and Dominic Colon (8 tackles) played well in defeat. Javious Calderon carried seven times for 51 yards. The Reggies host North Reading in another non-league matchup Friday at 6 p.m.
