Lawrence' softball team, down 9-2, rallied for its first win of the season, 17-15 over Greater Lawrence. The Lancers took advantage of a sixth-inning injury to Reggie pitcher Maggie Santomassino, who had to leave the game, by scoring 12 runs in that inning.

Greater Lawrence coed tennis lost a 4-3 verdict to Greater Lowell, but the first doubles team of Jose Rivera and Freudi Gonzalez remained undefeated at 9-0 with only Thursday's CAC league meet remaining.

Jose Rivera and Freudy Gonzalez continued their doubles' dominance of the Commonwealth Conference for Greater Lawrence Tech, improving to a perfect 9-0 at first doubles on the year. Shawsheen Tech had the final say in yesterday's match, though, winning 5-2.

Tourney bound

 

The Greater Lawrence softball team qualified for the tournament for the first time since 2006 with a 21-0 rout of Northeast. Kiki Donis led the 21-hits attack for the Reggies (10-4) with two doubles, four hits and four RBIs.  Freshmen Kassandra Ayala had three hits, two RBIs and scored three times.

Sloppy win

 

 

It wasn't pretty, but Greater Lawrence defeated Lawrence in softball for the first time in at least 15 years, 17-7. The Reggies only had four hits but took advantage of 15 walks and three hit batters.

Greater Lawrence 5, Northeast Metro 1

For the fourth time this season, Greater Lawrence defeated the Commonwealth Conference leader with a victory over Northeast. Oscar Reynoso earned his third win of the season while Angel Abrue twice delivered a two-out, run-scoring hit.

Reggies take a thriller

Trudy Goetchius singled, stole second and scored on a two-out single by Kassandra Ayala to give Greater Lawrence the lead in the top of the seventh, then Maggie Santomassino worked her way out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning, forcing the final batter to pop out to Kristina Donis as the Reggies upset Whittier 5-4.

Brian Vezina allowed just four hits and struck out 10, while Paul Mahoney was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs as Whittier downed Greater Lawrence 12-0.

Greater Lawrence 8, Shawsheen Valley 7

With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Greater Lawrence sophomore catcher Jose Bueno wrapped a double into the gap and Angel Abreu followed that up with a base hit to give the Reggies an 8-7 win over Shawsheen.  Greater Lawrence blew a 7-1 lead before edging out an extra-inning victory.
