Hillies set stage

 

 

Haverhill remained unbeaten (20-0), winning  four meets in a home super quad-meet, setting the stage for a huge showdown at Shawsheen Wednesday to close out the dual-meet season. Four Hillies went unbeaten on the day, the most impressive being Kevin Fuller (113), while sophomore Jackson DiFloures (145) had a terrific 3-1 day and recorded a pivotal decision in a 42-27 win over Brookline.

Lancers win dual tourney

 

Brandon Santell remained unbeaten and his pin in 48 seconds virtually clinched a 40-30 victory over Salem in the finals of the Merrimack Dual Meet Tournament.

Santell and Jon Velilla alternated between 220 and heavyweight as Lawrence won five meets, clipping Melrose 38-33 in the semifinals, to win the tournament and improve to 19-7 on the year.

Mezidor lifts record

 

Ader Mezidor won all three matches, splitting time betwwen 170 and 182 as Greater Lawrence went 1-2 in a quad-meet at Shawsheein, imroving his record to 21-4 on the year.

Knights win 5 times

 

Short-handed North Andover still won five times in a six-team meet to improve to 11-2 on the year. Joey Valentino remained unbeaten with five wins and Carson Milovanovic and Ethan Ford and Michael Coles were also perfect on the day. Greater Lawrence was 2-3 on the day.

Big win for Diaz

 

Jose Diaz had the win of the day for Methuen, a 10-4 decision at 170 pounds ofer Greater Lawrence standout Ader Mezidor as the Rangers crushed both the Reggies (70-0) and Leominster (65-6) for their fourth straight win.

Depth gives Methuen titleta

 

Methuen may not have quite the star power as in the past, but the Rangers still have solid depth as they showed Saturday by placing first in the Wakefield Tournament. 

The Rangers placed 12 wrestlers and came away with three champions among five finalists. Placing first for Methuen were sophomore Adam Rader, who had a first period pin in the 113-pound finals, 145-pounder Zabian Cruz and heavyweight Dereck Ramirez. Cruz is a repeat champ at Wakefield while Ramirez won his first crown.

Ader Mezidor was unbeaten on the day as Greater Lawrence went 2-2 on the day. Aden Ranno was 3-1 and impressive at 126 and Daniel Wahlgren was 3-1 at 132.

In a meet in which there were no decisions, Lawrence romped past Greater Lawrence 60-24. Brandon Santell had a pin in 1:06 at 220 pounds while heavyweight Jon Velilla followed with a fall at 2:26.
