Center shines for Sanborn

Despite a tough, 58-37, loss to No. 5 Conant in the Division 3 quarterfinals, No. 4 Sanborn got a great performance from Bri Center. She finished with a game-high 19 points, and according to coach Brian Gray also led the team in roubounds and assists. The Indians wrapped up their season at 16-4.

Ellen McGough (game-high 16 points) hit a corner 3 as time expired to force OT and Sanborn went on to down Prospect Mountain 49-43. Bri Center had nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter and OT.

The Sanborn girls basketball team had a strong defensive effort against struggling Somersworth, and held the visitors to just six, yes six, points in a 46-6 win. Ali Gannon had a season-high eight points for the Indians (12-2), and Sophie Merry-Carreiro scored a game-high 12. Somersworth scored all six of its points in the second quarter.

Sophie Merry-Carreio had a career-high 26 points with four 3's to lead Sanborn girls basketball to a win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Down by as much as seven in the fourth quarter, the Indians got a lift on the glass from Maddie Lovely to swing momentum and mount the comeback.

Sanborn's girls outscored Prospect Mountain 19-6 in the third quarter to rally past Prospect Mountain 42-36. Maddie Lovely had 10 rebounds and a season-high eight points and Skyla Shibel played superb defense on Prospect's top scorer. Sanborn improved to 7-2.

Center finished with a team-high 14 points, Sophie Merry-Carreiro had 13 and freshman Ellen McGough chipped in 12.
