Coaches' Corner: Anne Marinaro

Anne Marinaro has been a fixture in the Merrimack Valley since the late 1980s, when she starred for the Andover High (Eagle-Tribune All-Star in 1989-90) and University of Maine soccer teams.

Back then, you knew her as Anne Murnane. That was before she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Marinaro, an Andover football great who went on to become a three-year starting lineman at the University of Michigan.

Freshman duo give Central Catholic last-second win over Billerica

Freshman Mikayla Hickey charged towards the net and fired a shot that was saved, but fellow freshman Jill Lane gathered in the rebound and beat the goalie with eight seconds left in regulation to give Central Catholic a 1-0 win over Billerica.

Andover, Central fight to draw

Andover and Central Catholic tied 1-1. Alex Bengston scored for the Golden Warriors while goalkeeper Camille Fantini made 14 saves to preserve the tie. Central's Kelley Mikus scored the goal off an assist from Gia O'Connor. Raiders goalie Nicole Rogers had 12 saves while Adelle Dagher and Alyssa Reilly also had strong performances.

Nicole Rogers made a tremendous save with one minute remaining to secure Central Catholic's 0-0 tie with Cathedral. Alyssa Reilly played a solid defensive game for the Raiders and Adelle Dagher had a strong game at midfield.

Haverhill beats Central Catholic for first time this decade

Jami Styrczula scored two goals as Haverhill defeated Central Catholic 2-1 in head coach Fred Tarbox's debut.

The Hillies, who Central has dominated in recent years, prevailed against the Raiders for the first time this decade. Haverhill (1-0) went up 2-0 before the Raiders (0-1) got on the board when Central's Kelley Mikus finished off a pass from Megan Jowett on a corner kick.
