A young Sanborn team had a disappointing finish — a Class M first round defeat to No. 5 Campbell, 12-5 — but coach Gene Burnham is confident in next season as they rebuild. He was happy that they finished 9-9 with such a young team, highlighted by three RBIs from freshman Hunter Wagner.

Promotion pays off for Sanborn

Brought up to the varsity earlier in the week, freshman Brendan Hamilton battled on the mound for nine innings, setting the stage for classmate Grant Wagner's heroics as Sanborn prevailed over Raymond, 6-5. Wagner stroked a run-scoring single to re-tie the game in the eighth inning, then ripped a three-run double to win the game in the ninth. Hamilton (10 hits allowed, nine strikeouts) got the big outs when he needed for the Indians.

Doing it all

Tyler Johnson blasted a three-run homer to put Sanborn in the lead, and threw two innings of relief to record the win as the Indians bested Raymond 12-9. Freshman Jon Scheidegger added four RBIs for the winners.
