Triton knocked out of the playoffs

There was a reason Winchester finished the season 8-6-4 before facing Triton in the first round of the state tournament. The Middlesex League host to teams like Stoneham, Lexington and Woburn qualified six teams for the state tournament, and Winchester was not shy about establishing its style of play on the game right away, going up 4-0 at the end of the first half. The game eventually finished 4-1.

Triton keeps Pentucket out of postseason with tie

The Pentucket boys soccer team missed the state tournament by that margin yesterday, playing Triton to a 0-0 tie. The Sachems needed to win to clinch a postseason berth. Pushed to the brink of elimination with five games to play, the Sachems beat Ipswich, Rockport, Amesbury and Newburyport to set up yesterday's season finale.

Generals win in closing minutes

Junior Joe Savasta scored the game-winning goal with just more than 10 minutes left to lift the Generals to victory. Jackson MacDonald made just two saves to earn the shutout for the Generals (7-4-1).

Triton tops Georgetown

Ed Hargreaves scored twice and Pat Martin scored the game-winner as Triton edged Georgetown 3-2. Josh Ingram and Mike Salvaggio scored for the Royals (5-2-2), and Evan Weagle made six saves in the loss. Ben Cross and Dan Norton made three saves apiece for Triton (2-3-2).

Triton built a 2-0 lead and held on to defeat rival Pentucket 2-1. The host Vikings (1-0-2) got goals from Andrew Goodwin and Pat Martin with assists from Evan Schwarz, Ed Hargreaves, Caleb Noble and Martin. Triton goalies Ben Cross (4 saves) and Ben Norton (3 saves) split time in the win.
