Casey Shea potted the game-winner for Woburn in overtime to give Andover a heart-breaking 2-1 defeat to end its season in the Division 1 North first round.

The Golden Warriors scored with just 3.5 seconds left in regulation when Joe Kuta won a faceoff to Matt Swett, who tied the score.

Andover's hockey team needed a win or a tie to qualify for the state tournament and the Warriors delivered with a 2-2 tie with Reading. Alex Patti and Dan Columbo scored for Andover, which finishes the regular season 8-9-4 and qualifies because it had an exclusion game against Malden Catholic.

Junior Matt Swett recorded his first hat trick and added two assists to spark Andover's hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Westford. Alex Driscoll added three assists for the Warriors (8-8-3), who need two points in their last two games to qualify for the tournament.

Joe Kuta scored the only goal of the game with 1:30 left in regulation to lift Andover past Tewksbury, 1-0, to bring the Golden Warriors back to .500 on the season (7-7-3).

TEWKSBURY — In hockey parlance, it’s called standing on your head.

In laymen’s terms, North Andover goalie Tyler Morandi just stopped pucks, posting his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over Andover last night at Breakaway Ice Center. It was the fourth consecutive victory for the Scarlet Knights (8-3-1).

Junior Luke Walker got things started with his first goal of the season and Liam Centrella, who was recently elevated to varsity, had his first assist as Andover clipped Lincoln-Sudbury 4-1.

TEWKSBURY — After 10 minutes of back and forth play, Central Catholic’s Johnny Daniels delivered a game-turning play against his hometown team.

The Andover resident picked off a pass at the Golden Warrior blue line, deked a defender and flipped the puck past the goalie for a shorthanded goal. That sparked the Raiders in a 3-0 victory over archrival Andover.

Freshman Jim Burns scored his first career goal to lift Andover to a 3-1 win over Westford. Kyle Berthiaume continued his stellar play in net.

Andover goalie Kyle Berthiaume made 32 stops, helping the Golden Warriors tie Acton-Boxboro, 1-1. Alex Patti scored for the Warriors, whose record went to 3-2-2. Matt Swett and Joe Kuta tallied assists.

Another great game in a burgeoning rivalry.

Struggling back from a pair of one-goal deficits last night, Central Catholic finally broke through goalie Kyle Berthiaume late in the third period and dealt Andover its first loss of the season, 4-2.
