Central Catholic's Shilanna Gallo finished fourth in the State Coaches Individual all-around competition with a 36.525 score Sunday to lead the local participants. North Andover's Meghan Buttress finished ninth.

 A pair of local Plymouth State University student-athletes have been honored by the Little East Conference.

Plymouth State freshman Jennifer Samaro from Salem, N.H., was named Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer of the Week, and former Pinkerton standout Ryan Lambert, a junior from Derry, was selected to the LEC Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Junior center Trevor Phillips was productive in limited minutes (foul trouble), hitting a game-high 18 points in Sanborn's 61-44 setback at the hands of Prospect Mountain. Craig Daigle hustled for five offensive rebounds for the Indians.

Sanborn's boys basketball team won its first game of the season, 61-49 at Newport. Senior Chris Daigle had a fine all-around game to lead the way with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks.

Co-captain Garrett Cristaldi worked hard on the boards, hauling down eight rebounds including three on the offensive end, but it wasn't quite enough in Sanborn's 60-42 Farmington Christmas Tourney loss to the host squad.
