Pelham falls in semis

Despite getting hat tricks from all three of C.J. Ziogas, Mike Woonton and Sean Paradis, No. 4 Pelham fell to Monadnock, 14-9, in the Division 3 semifinals. Andrew Keegan turned aside 18 shots, but it wasn't enough to keep the top-seeded Huskies at bay. Pythons coach Matt Regan was especially proud of what this year's club, which went 12-4, was able to accoplish after the team finished dead last at 2-12 last year.

Pelham dispatches Derryfield

C.J. Ziogas racked up a game-high five points (2 goals, 3 assists) as Pelham easily handled Derryfield, 8-3, in the Division 3 quarterfinals. Josh Fisette and Tom O'Brien added a pair of goals, and Andew Keegan made a stellar 14 saves in net.

Improbable turnaround

Pelham lost to unbeaten Monadnock, 10-7, but it has been quite the regular season for the Pythons. They went from worst in 2008 (2-12) TO almost first (11-3). C.J. Ziogas, Josh Fissette and Tom O'Brien each had two goals in the loss.

Salem stomps Pelham

Behind a trio of hat tricks from Kevin Baudin, Jake Matthews and Kyle Kenney, Salem destroyed Pelham, 17-4. Brett Miller led the Blue Devils in scoring with eight points (two goals, six assists). Python goaltender Andrew Keegan made 13 saves.

Andrew Keegan turned aside all 12 shots he faced as Pelham shut out Kennett, 9-0. C.J. Ziogas had a team-high four goals, and Tom O'Brien chipped in a trio of helpers.

Pythons get defensive

R.J. Riddinger was the leader of a staunch defense effort in front of standout goalie Andrew Keegan (12 saves), allowing Pelham to ease to a 14-4 victory over Milford. Offense came from senior attacks Mike Woonton and C.J. Ziogas with four goals each. Ziogas, Richie Sullivan and Sean Paradis were master playmakers with three assists apiece.

High five for Pelham

Not only is Pelham's boys' lacrosse team off to its best start ever, it also already achieved the program's highest win total in its five-year history. With an 11-2 decision over winless Stevens, the Pythons are now 5-0, a dramatic change from last season's 2-12 mark.

Brick wall

Andrew Keegan, who now has 37 saves in two games, turned aside 15 shots as Pelham topped Lebanon, 5-2. Keegan blanked Lebanon in the opening half before allowing one goal in each of the final two quarters. Mike Woonton provided the bulk of the offense with two goals and two assists. Tom O'Brien chipped in a pair of goals.
