Amesbury battled to the end, but could not overcome the two-goal advantage North Reading built in the second period. Where the Hornets stung the Indians was on the power play converting two goals on only four times on the man-up whereas Amesbury did not convert on any power plays.

Breakaway winner

With the score knotted at 2-2, Pentucket's Ryan McCarthy sent a sharp pass to Bobby DiSorbo, who was streaking on a breakaway in the nuetral zone. DiSorbo made a nice deke move past North Reading's Garrett Topping and netted his second goal of the game for the winner. Andrew Mueskes nabbed 26 saves.

North Reading 2, Amesbury 0

 

In a close matchup with North Reading, Amesbury lacked an emotional spark despite doing many good things on the ice in a 2-0 loss, according to coach Peter Cignetti. Matt Irwin made 29 saves and Cignetti additionally gave praise to Bill Enaire, Zach Pizzo, and Jacob Burns for good performances.

Penalties plague North Reading

Holding a 2-1 lead through the two periods of the Roy Condon Invitational championship game, the North Reading boys hockey team appeared poised to defeat Martha’s Vineyard and improve to 3-3. However, untimely penalties led to a trio of third period goals for Martha’s Vineyard as the Hornets lost, 4-3.

Milestones

Chris Leslie scored his first career goal, the game winner with less than two minutes to play, to give North Reading a 4-3 win over Triton.

For Triton Keegan Howes had a goal and an assist, Craig White had a goal and an assist, Sean Lawless had a goal, and Colin Robinson and Mike Mysliwy each had an assist. In net Ned Beevers had 25 saves for the Vikings.
