Holding a 2-1 lead through the two periods of the Roy Condon Invitational championship game, the North Reading boys hockey team appeared poised to defeat Martha’s Vineyard and improve to 3-3. However, untimely penalties led to a trio of third period goals for Martha’s Vineyard as the Hornets lost, 4-3.
“Penalties just got us away from our game plan. It was the seniors and team leaders. One of my captains and one assistant took three apiece,” coach Frank Golden said.
Tyler Pascucci had a pair of goals and Rick Schaffer recorded two assists. Garrett Topping turned aside 29 of the shots he faced.
Goals: Tyler Pascucci 2, Aaron Semiao
Assists: Rick Schaffer 2, Matt Calos, Derek Marenholz
