Sanborn handed Somersworth its first loss of the season in a 44-41 win. Marianna Brown led the way with 13 points. Somersworth hit what appeared to be a game-tying 3-pointer with 0:04 left, but a timeout from the bench negated the basket. The ensuing shot attempt fell short, giving the Indians the huge upset win.

Eight times a charm

Sanborn girls hoop got their first win of the season in dominating fashion 57-19 over Mascenic. Junior Maeve-Marie Hurley led the way for the Indians, scoring 10 points while senior Abby Copp chipped in with eight. Aided by a 31-point halftime lead, every single Sanborn player scored once as it improved to 1-7.

The high flying Men's basketball team, after five road games in six weeks, will finally be at home tonight.

The Warriors (9-1, 5-1 in Northeast-10) host perennial power Bentley University (9-4, 3-3) at 7:30 p.m., immediateley after the Merrimack women host Bentley. Also tonight, Darren Duncan will be honored for being the newest member of the Merrimack 1,000-point club.

Sanborn falls to Epping in opener

The Sanborn girls basketball team fell to Epping, 51-40, in last night's season opener. Marianna Brown led the team in scoring with nine points, followed closely by Shannon Snively (seven points). The Indians had no answer last night for the Fiori sisters, who combined for 35 of the team's 51 points.
