Matt McCloskey scored team-highs in kills (14) and blocks (5) as Salem beat rival Pinkerton 3-1 in the Division 1 preliminary round. Kai Esker-Greenhalge added 26 assists for the Blue Devils, who will play Timberlane in the quarterfinals on Tuesday (6 p.m.)

Matt McClockey continued his strong season, leading Salem in kills (18), blocks and digs in a 3-1 victory over Winnacunnet.

Matt McCloskey led Salem in kills (15), blocks and digs in a sweep of Londonderry, lifting the Blue Devils to 8-2.

Kai Esker-Greenhalge notched team-highs in assists (16), service points (17), aces (10) and digs (2) as Salem beat Farmington 3-0.

Windham's volleyball team outlasted Salem 32-30 in the first game and then went on for a 3-1 victory to remain unbeaten at 7-0. Jeff Draper had 15 kills and Jared Stivala had nine kills and four blocks while Kyle Gschwend had 28 assists.Matt McCloskey had a huge game for Salem with 21 kills, 5 blocks and 11 digs.

 Kai Esker-Greenhalge had 12 aces and led the team in assists with 20 as Salem clipped Farmington 3-1.

Salem roared back from a 13-8 Game 5 deficit to beat Pinkerton 20-18 and win the match. Matt McCloskey had a whopping 26 kills for Salem.  The Astros were led by Aldan Hirsch (11 digs) and Lucas Lizotte (41 assists).

It went the distance but Windham (2-0) remained unbeaten, handing Salem (3-1) its first loss. The scores were 25-8, 25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 15-11. Matt McCloskey had 14 kills and 2 blocks for Salem. Jared Stivala had 16 kills for Windham and Jeff Draper 13.

Salem spotted Pinkerton the first set and then won three straight to improve to 3-0 as Matt McCloskey and Brandon Hebert proved a formidable one-two punch at the net with 16 and 13 kills.

Brandon Hebert had 11 kills and Matt McCloskey added 7 as Salem boys volleyball defeated Timberlane, 3-0.
