Ranked no. 13 in the tournament, the Pelham girls soccer team went into the first round hoping to upset a top ranked team. They fell just short however losing 1-0 to Portsmouth in a tightly battled contest. The lone goal was scored by Portsmouth's Jamie Fralick in the first half when she snuck one into the net.
Read More »Pelham dropped its final game, 2-1, to St. Thomas Aquinas (9-3-1) to finish the season with a 6-6-2 record. Laurie Costa scored Pelham's lone goal 5 minutes into the second half, the goal was assisted by Emily Koehler. Keeper Alex Catalano registered 10 saves in the loss. Despite the loss, Pelham still managed to qualify for the Class I tournament for the first time in 12 years. They will play their first game on Thursday.

Pelham's field hockey team has struggled much of the season but it ended its last scheduled regular season game with a 1-1 tie against a strong St. Thomas team (5-2-1. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Emily Koehler tied it up and the defense did the rest, including in overtime. Alex Catalano stopped two breakaways for Pelham (3-5-2) "I'd call this a big upset," said Pelham coach Linda Koehler.
Turning the cornerAlthough it was only the third win of the season for the Pelham field hockey team, it was a milestone."We've already won more than last year (2-12) so we're excited by that," said Pelham coach Linda Koehler after a 1-0 win over Bedford.Emily Koehler, the coach's daughter, scored the lone goal 20 minutes into the first half on an assist from Keri Foley and Stephanie Winn stood out in the midfield.
