Gianakakis comes through

Nicole Gianakakis came up big for the Indians with two goals and an assist as Sanborn eliminated Gilford from postseason play with a 3-1 victory in the New Hampshire Class M semifinals. Tamra Comerford scored Sanborn's other goal, and goaltender Heather Zukas finished with eight saves.

Sanborn earns history win

Tamra Comerford took a pass at midfield, juked past three defenders and beat the goalie one-on-one to the lower right corner 13 minutes into the second half to give Sanborn a 1-0 win over Stevens in the Class M quarterfinals. Eagle-Tribune records go back to 1989, and in that time no Sanborn girls soccer team has advanced to the Class M semifinals.

The Sanborn girls soccer team improved to 9-3 — its best record in school history according to coach Eva Lang — with an 8-0 rivoseason fomp over Conant. Angela Zukas had two goals and an assist and six other Indians found the net.

Sanborn at its best

Sanborn's girls soccer team is off to its best start in coach Eva Lang's eight-year history and Nicole Giankakis and Tamra Comerford are leading the way offensively. Yesterday's 6-0 shutout of Somersworth was a prime example as Giankakis had two goals and two assists while Comerford added a goal and an assist.

Working overtime

Down 2-1 for much of the second half, Sanborn Regional was able to tie the game at 2-2 with just seconds remaining to force overtime. After a scoreless first frame in OT, Ashley Forton scored the winner to help Sanborn improve to 5-3 and send Campbell (7-1) to their first loss of the season. Tamra Comerford also stood out in the win with the game-tying goal and an assist.
