In a game that could have gone either way, Pelham fell to Pembroke 4-3 in the Division 2 quarterfinals. Sarah Ratcliffe had a two-run single for the Pythons, who finished with a 14-4 record.

Everything seemed to be going wrong for the Pelham softball team Wednesday in the Division 2 opening round — until the seventh inning.

Trailing underdog John Stark 5-3 in the seventh, thanks largely to four errors that led to four unearned runs, the No. 3-seed Pythons scored five runs with two outs to escape with an 8-6 victory.

Pelham's Shannon Morin was immense in a 1-0 shutout of  Milford, throwing a four-hitter with five strikeouts and making two sparkling defensive plays for her second win over the Division 2 power. Pelham got its only run in the first on back-to-back doibles by Abbey Bevens and Sarah Ratcliffe.

Windham upset Pelham, 2-1, as Abby Bedient fanned 10 in six innings of 5-hit ball. Reliever Taylor Dufield fanned Eagle-Tribune All-Star Sarah Ratcliffe with runners on first and second for the final out. Windham's Courtney Costa had an RBI in the fourth and another run came around on an error.

Pelham softball handed Milford its first loss of the season with a dramatic 3-1 victory in eight innings. Shannon Morin went the distance, striking out nine while allowing one run on six hits.

Freshmen Lanna Pierce and Jessica Slaton both had their first career home runs and had two RBIs apiece to lead Pelham (9-1) over Goffstown 4-3.

Sarah Ratcliffe went 3 for 4 with a home run in Pelham's 7-6 victory over St. Thomas and her three hits gives her a school record 104 hits, one more than Hannah Paitchell.

What a day it was for Pelham's Sarah Ratcliffe. The senior UMass-Lowell-commit went 3 for 6 with three home runs and nine RBIs in the Pythons football-like 20-19 win over Hollis Brookline. Her last two homers gave her hits number 100 and 101 for her career, placing her just two hits behind the school record.

Sarah Ratcliffe was 4 for 4 with two RBIs as Pelham stayed unbeaten (5-0), whipping ConVal 12-2.n
