Georgetown falls to Lowell Catholic

GEORGETOWN — Georgetown fell to Lowell Catholic on Friday despite two touchdowns from quarterback Jimmy Sherman. Sherman threw for a 22-yard touchdown to Nick Calvani in the first quarter, and then in the third quarter he rushed for a 10-yard score. Georgetown couldn't slow down Lowell Catholic's Austin Wentzel, who threw for four touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Wentzel put Lowell Catholic ahead early with a 38-yard touchdown to Trevor Longo, but shortly after Sherman found Calvani to tie the game at 7-7. Wentzel threw a 70-yard touchdown to Kennedy Waruhiu to put Lowell Catholic up 13-7 going into halftime, but coming out of the break Sherman rushed to give Georgetown a one-point lead. Lowell Catholic took control late, however, with Wentzel hitting Longo for a 17-yard touchdown and then Waruhiu for a 48-yarder to wrap up the scoring. Georgetown (0-9) hosts West Roxbury Friday at 6 p.m.
