Emily Graham and Kaylee Habib combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits as Whittier beat Lowell Catholic 15-0. Kayden Ouellette and Kaitlyn Hurley each had three hits and Kaylee Habib hit her first home run of the year for  the Wildcats.

Efosa saves day

After Whittier Tech boys basketball allowed Lowell Catholic to erase a 15-point deficit to force overtime, Yuki Efosa came up big in the extra session with 10 of his 27 points to lead Whittier to a 71-60 win. Schneider Geneus added 14 points with three big blocked shots down the stretch.

8th grader leads Lowell Catholic over Whittier

HAVERHILL — Lowell Catholic earned a 28-15 win over Whittier Friday night. Eighth-grader Kaden Silton threw for a score and ran for a score and Aidan Virella rushed for 100 yards and two TDs. For Whittier (4-3), Eno Bryant scored on an 8-yard run and Ryan Archambault hauled in a 28-yard TD pass from Cam West. Jyzaiah Ferreira rushed for 124 yards.

With no Lowell Catholic girls to run against, Whittier sophomore Noel Tripp ran in the boys race (won by Lowell Catholic) and finished eighth overall in an impressive 20:52 for 3.1 miles. She is unbeaten in girls races.

8th grader sinks Greater Lawrence

WEST ANDOVER — Augustin Reina scored twice and Javious Calderon (116 yards, TD) and Isiah Suero (112 yards) each surpassed 100 rushing yards but Greater Lawrence fell to Lowell Catholic, 33-20. Talented 8th grader Kaden Silton of Westford stole the show with four TD passes, three to Nick Sawyer, to power 4-1 Lowell Catholic on Friday night.  Suero, who is a sophomore, was making his first start at quarterback for the 0-5 Reggies. Defensively, Dom Colon had seven tackles and Victor Melenciano had a sack.

The surprising North Andover volleyball swept Lowell Catholic to advance to the North semifinals Friday at Winchester. Liam Ross led the Knights (10-4) in kills (13) and digs and also had five aces.

Whittier's unbeaten softball team improved to 10-0 with a doubleheader sweepof Lowell Catholic, 6-0 and 10-0. Pitcher Emily Graham picked up both wins and her 100th strikeout in just 10 games. She also had three RBIs in the opener. Danie Lear had three RBIs in the second game.
