Andover falls in North Semifinal

BILLERICA — On May 18, the Andover girls lacrosse team handed Billerica its first and only loss of the season, but last night, with a trip to the Division 1 North Final on the line, the Indians got the last word.

Billerica (19-1) survived a furious second half comeback to beat Andover 10-9, ending the Golden Warriors' season in heartbreak. Andover (15-6) trailed by as many as six goals midway through the game, but came surging back after winning a series of draws to tie the game before eventually falling behind for good down the stretch.

Andover topples Billerica

On Senior Night at Lovely Field, Andover handed Billerica (now 14-1) its first loss of the year 10-8. Veronica Alois had three goals and Jess Leone two for the Golden Warriors, who had lost to the Indians by 1 earlier in the year.

Indians rally

North Andover led 5-3 at the half but unbeaten Billerica took over in the second half to win 11-9. Leah Chittick scored three goals and Abbie Karalis two for the Knights (13-3), who are ranked fourth in the ESPN statewide poll. No. 10 Billerica improved to 13-0.
