Pedro Lopez scored and Douglas Leiva stopped 15 shots to lead Greater Lawrence, which lost its tourney opener 5-1 to Marblehead. Derick Pereira was a defensive standout. The Reggies finished 8-6-5 for their first non-losing season since the 1995 squad went 8-8.

Douglas Leiva netted a hat trick as Greater Lawrence boys soccer won 5-1 over Essex Tech. 

The Reggies — who went 6-12 last year — improved to 8-5-5.

Pedro Lopez scored twice, including the game-winner 2:30 into the second half to lead Greater Lawrence boys soccer 2-1 over Shawsheen.

It secured a state tournament berth for Greater Lawrence. 

Pedro Lopez, taking a complete break from his goaltending duties, had a goal and two assists as Greater Lawrence defeated Whittier in boys soccer, 3-1.

Pedro Lopez was credited with an improbable 25 saves to carry Greater Lawrence (5-4-5) to a surprising 0-0 tie with unbeaten Greater Lowell (7-0-4)

"He made saves I didn't think anybody possibly could make. The official said it was best goalie performance he had seen this year," said Reggies coach Richard Coakley.

Trailing 2-0, Greater Lawrence's Pedro Lopez switched to forward and scored six straight goals to lead the Reggies to a 6-2 victory.

Whittier's Fabricio Torres scored on a penalty kick with less than a minute to go to give the Wildcats a 2-2 tie with Greater Lawrence.

Greater Lawrence lost in improbable heartbreaking fashion as Nashoba Tech scored on a 30-yard shot with no time left for a 3-2 win. Douglas Leiva had a goal and an assist for the Reggies.

Pedro Lopez scored three goals and also made eight saves to lead Greater Lawrence boys soccer 6-0 over Innovation.

Lopez started the game in net and then was switched to striker.
