Overtime bliss

 
Pinkerton Academy made it four trips to the state field hockey title game in the last five years with a dramatic, 1-0, overtime state semifinal win over Exeter last night.
 
Junior Julie Saltamartini scored the sudden-death winner, about 10 minutes into overtime, set up by a sweet Kaylie DeCosmo feed.
 
Jordan Dudley turned aside 11 shots for the shutout in goal. The Astros will now battle Winnacunnet Regional for the title, Sunday at Bedford High with a 2:30 p.m. faceoff.

Pinkerton hands Exeter its first loss

Julie Saltamartini scored twice and assisted on another as Pinkerton delivered Exeter its first loss.  Kaylie DeCosmo, Brooke Dorval and Jessica Cote also scored for the Astros (5-1).  Jordan Dudley made eight saves to secure the win. Exeter falls to 6-1.

Clevesey delivers in OT

 

 

Senior Brian Clevesy of Groveland found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal in the 103rd minute, propelling the Merrimack men’s soccer team to a 1-0, double-overtime victory over Molloy last night at Martone-Mejail Field. The Warriors improve to 2-1-1 on the young season and 1-1-1 in their third overtime contest in four games, while the Lions drop to 2-1.
