Moynihan shines in Windham win

Freshman Dan Moynihan allowed just one hit during three shutout innings as Windham needed 10 innings to turn aside Milford, 5-4.

Windham (6-11) forced the extra fames with a pair of runs in the seventh.  The inning started with a Moynihan double. He scored on a Mike Diorio single.  David Creighton (walk) scored the game-tying run on a fielder's choice.

Underclassmen shine

Sophomore Jeff Peterson struck out 10 and freshman David Carbonello rapped a two-run triple as Windham rocked ConVal 4-1 .

Bedford 10, Windham 4

Battling for a playoff spot through a brutal schedule, Windham saw Bedford erase a three-run deficit and surge to a 10-4 victory. Steve Dastous had two hits including a triple with an RBI for Windham, and Zach Sprague stepped up with a two-hit effort from the No. 9 spot.

7-th heaven

Jeff Peterson blasted a grand slam over the fence in left-center field to give Windham the lead in the third, and ended the day with three hits, three runs and a whopping seven RBIs as the Jaguars rolled over Kearsarge 15-2.

Windham rallies for third win of season

Despite struggling Adam Dolan made a tough bare-handed play on third-inning grounder that kept Souhegan from further damage. Steven Dastous scorched a triple to drive in the final two runs in a three-run third which proved to be the game-winning runs. Sophomore Jeff Peterson recorded a game-ending strikeout with the tying run on third to earn his first varsity victory.

National record

Windham's baseball team became part of history, at least for the time being.

Portsmouth beat the Jaguars, 10-0, for its 88th straight victory to surpass Martensdale-St. Mary's of Iowa for the national record.

Bailed out

Freshman second baseman Kellin Bail, in one of his first appearances in the field, made a gorgeous diving stop in the hole and started a nifty double play in Windham's loss to Bedford.

12-run inning

 

Trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the third, Windham scored 12 runs in the bottom of the third  including eight before an out was made  on its way to a 19-10 victory over Pelham. Steven Dastous and Mike DiOrio led the way for Pelham. Both had a double and triple and they combined for 11 RBIs.

Dolan dazzles

Adam Dolan fired a complete-game three-hitter but was the hard-luck loser as Windham fell to John Stark, 1-0. Freshman Danny Moynihan made his return from a broken femur suffered in hockey and went 1 for 2 with a walk. The Jaguars had the tying run at third with one out in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't get the run in.

Magnificent Mullin

 

Tom Mullin, one of only three seniors on the team, fired a 4-hit shutout and helped his own cause with two hits, an RBI and two runs scored as Windham opened its season with a 10-0 rout of Plymouth. Matt Carbonello was 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Jaguars.
