Hammar, Gray strong in states

It took a record-breaking time to keep Steven Hammar from victory.

The Pelham runner placed second in the 1,500 meter run at the Division 2 state championships at Dartmouth, bested by Bow's Jonathan Vinnenberg in a time of 4:06.50 that was almost five seconds faster than the two-year-old record he broke. Hammar ran a personal-best 4:15.54 as runner-up.

Fitzgerald scores twice

Windham's Patrick Fitzgerald placed second in the 55 meter hurdles (8.1 seconds) and fourth in the long jump (19-8 1/4) to led area Division 2 athletes at their qualifying session at UNH.

Windham's Patrick Fitzgerald won the 55 hurldes (8.3) and placed third in the long jump (19-06) at a multi-team league track meet.

Windham shines at NH meet

Windham freshman Sam Crichton won the long-jump during yesterday's multi-meet at UNH.  Crichton leaped 14-3 to earn the top spot in the event.  Junior Emma Boyd finished second in the 1,500 in a time of 5:47.

Fast start for Fedrick

In his first indoor meet of the year, Salem's Jerickson Fedrick was in midseason form as he blazed the 55 meters in just 6.2 seconds to win the event. Ben Dutton ran a great race to take top honors in the 3,000 and kickstarted the Blue Devils' triumphant 4x400 relay team. Rashidat Adigun qualified for the state meet by running an 8.3 in the hurdles, finishing second as did Salem as a team.
