ANDOVER — From the day All-Scholastic Andy Coke arrived last season, Andover High began pounding the football on the ground.

But last night, the Golden Warriors went to the air, and found plenty of success.

TEWKSBURY — At halftime, it looked as if Andover had taken control of the game.

Forcing a turnover with less than a minute to go in the half, the Golden Warriors quickly drove 34 yards and Mark Zavrl booted a 28-yard field goal to give his squad a two-point lead at the break.

GLOUCESTER— Andover coach E.J. Perry said the game plan was to take it to Gloucester physically.

As it turned out Perry’s squad executed the game plan to perfection as a power running game led by senior captain Andy Coke’s 198 yards and dominating play from the offensive line resulted in a 33-16 win at Newell Stadium.

NORTH ANDOVER — C.J. Scarpa admitted he was shaking when the play was called from the sidelines.

“I was pretty nervous,” he said. “It was the first trick play I have ever run. They are not my forte. But it went perfectly.”
