DRACUT — Momentum could have shifted drastically when Methuen lost a fumble at Dracut’s 3-yard line with the Rangers leading by eight points and looking to go ahead by two scores with 1:44 left in the third quarter. But Eddie Wallace didn’t let that happen.

DRACUT — Haverhill’s offense was quite impressive against Dracut last night.

Behind workhorse Chance Brady, the Hillies turned a Blaine Joia interception into a 97-yard drive to the end zone to take the lead at halftime. On a sharp 25-yard pass from Tommy Morgan to Joia, Haverhill scored on the last play of the game. And in between, a pair of 60-yard marches yielded nine more points.

With about two minutes left Lawrence was driving for the potential winning score but the Lancers fumbled on the Dracut 35. The Middles held on for a low-scoring 6-2 win.

DRACUT — Andover coach E.J. Perry simply identifying what cost his team.

“You can’t turn the ball over six times in a game,” said Perry. “When you allow turnovers like that, you are in big trouble.”

LAWRENCE — In another year against another team, Chuck Adamopoulos might have knocked over a water cooler en route to the winning team bus.

His Central Catholic team, which improved to 2-1 with a 22-14 win over Dracut last night, made enough mistakes to lose. Particularly when it came to putting the game away, which didn't finally happen until after the last minute onside kick bounced twice before going out of bounds.
