Three days after winning the Big East Tournament, the Phillips Academy softball team (13-2) remained on a roll, blasting Brooks 13-0. Kayla Maloney hurled a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and Sarah Onorato returned from illness with two hits and four RBIs.

Kids come through

Underclassmen played a huge role in Brooks' comeback 3-2 softball victory over Middlesex. Freshman Emma Goff led off the third inning with a single and scored, junior Jackie DiTroia of Andover drove in Windham's Andie Missert with the tying tally in the fifth, and sophomore Jill D'Arrigo singled home classmate Lauren Bishop, who had doubled. Sophomore Sam Nestor struck out seven for the victory.

Tabor Academy 11, Brooks 1

We played great in the first and second games and I am proud of the girls. 

Sam Nestor pitched great softball in the first and second game and we didnt' have our best showing in the third game.

Ditroia fuels rout

 

Sparked by Jackie Ditroia of Andover, Brooks scored 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 21-1 rout of Pingree. Ditroia (4 for 4) had an RBI triple and RBI double in the first.

Tough setback

 

Brooks left the tying and winning run on base in the seventh when the final batter lined to the left fielder in an 11-10 loss to Rivers. Andie Missert was 4 for 4 with a home run for Brooks and Amelia Hulshult was 2 for 5 with four RBIs.

Eight is more than enough for Brooks

Amelia Hulshult's two-run double ignited Brooks' eight-run fourth inning during a 13-4 win over St. Paul's. Lauren Bishop had an RBI single in that inning and Emma Goff added a two-run triple. Samantha Nestor threw a complete game to help Brooks improve to 1-1.

NECC prevails

 

 The Northern Essex Community College baseball team snapped out of a slump with a 6-3 win over Southern Maine Community College. Mike Chartier got the win, allowing one earned run over six innings while striking out nine while Domingo Cruz was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and Ray Roman scored three runs and stole four bases.
