Sophomore Andrew Wells was at his efficient best, throwing just 69 pitches in a complete-game three-hitter as Whittier topped Shawsheen, 8-2. Classmate Nate Frongillo turned in the "defensive play of the year" so far, according to head coach Joe Boland, when the second baseman dove to backhand a rocket over the bag in the third inning. More strong defense was played by Anthony Licciardello, another sophomore, and junior Brian Vezina.
