North Reading continued its late-season surge on the ice with a 4-1 win over Lowell Catholic to qualify for the state tournament with a 10-7 record. Eric Sokoloski scored twice and Cam Knight had a goal and two assists for the Hornets, who are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and unbeaten in their last five. 

North Reading received goals from four different scorers as it ran its current streak to seven wins in its last nine games (7-1-1), following a 4-0 win over Amesbury-Whittier.

Cam Knight, Nick Moscaritolo, Eric Sokolski and Tommy Potter each scored for the Hornets (9-7-4).  Sokolski had three assists.

Tommy Potter tallied three goals and Eric Sokolski potted two goals and four assists as North Reading rolled past Masconomet 7-2. Masco had downed the Hornets 5-1 just one month ago.

NORTH ANDOVER — Hockey was played at Merrimack College last night, but inconsistency was the real name of this game.

After a torrid start, North Andover pulled out a 3-2 win over North Reading, but it was a tough night for both teams.

Cam Knight potted a pair of goals to lead North Reading to a 4-1 victory over Marian. It was the third straight win for the Hornets.

North Reading entered with a 3-6-1 record and Newburyport was 7-1. But when the dust settled, the Hornets stunned the Clippers, 2-1, on two Cody Carbone goals. Freshman goalie Keith Linnane turned aside 21 shots. It was the first time in recent memory that North Reading had beaten Newburyport. Nobody on the team had done it and assistant coach Brian McAuliffe added he had never beaten them in his four years either. 

After being down 2-1 after two periods, Eric Sokolski scored the game winning goal to lift North Reading over Pentucket 3-2. Keith Linnane 29 of 31 shots in net for the Hornets.

Methuen came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat North Reading 5-2. Jared McAdam and Matt Bauchman each had two goals, Mike Lima added another goal, and goalie Cam Conway saved 28 of 30 shots.
