Pallaria named OW, Owls finish 2nd in Rhode Island

 

Timberlane junior Nick Pallaria is on top of his game and senior teammate Chris Lund seems to be completely healthy again.

Those were two takeaways Saturday from the John Gorman Invitational in Cumberland, R.I. as the Owls finished second to Simsbury in a talent-laden field. Timberlane had 10 placers and 221.5 points to fall just shy of Simsbury (228).

Vasquez goes unbeaten

 

Lawrence lost two of three meets in a quad at Cumberland but it was a good day for 152-pounder John Vasquez, who went 3-0 against some tough competition. Timberlane takes title

 

Timberlane ventured out to an old tournament and came in first at the John Gorman Invitational in Cumberland, R.I.

The Owls used their depth, placing eight wrestlers, to pile up 199 points, eight more than runner-up Bristol East. Pinkerton came in fourth with 131 1/2 points and North Andover came in 12th.

Valentino, two Astros champs in Rhode Island

 

North Andover's Joey Valentino remained undefeated, in impressive fashion, winning the 126-pound weight class in the rugged Cumberland, R.I. Tournament, taking a dominating major decision in the finals.

Valentino paces Knights

 

Sophomore Joey Valentino took first place at 120 pounds to pace North Andover to fourth at the rugged Cumberland Tournament in Rhode Island. Jack Perry was second at 126 for the Knights and both Eli Tuttle (1450 and CJ Cincotta (152) came in third. Tuttle wrestled a sensational tournament and Cincotta suffered his first loss, in overtime, in the semifinals.

New Milford/Cumberland Invite (R.I.)

 

Freshman Jacob Post had a breakout tournament Saturday, helping Timberlane win the Cumberland, R.I. tournament, defeating runner-up Fairfield Warde by seven points.

Post came back in the consolation round to finish third, beating the No. 4 and 5 seeds twice each on his way, gaining a pin in the consolation finals.
